Back at it

September 5th, 2008

Okay, so I let my blog collect some dust. My bad…

I’ve been in a limbo state over the passed few months while trying to get all my stuff together for my intended travels. I have since decided that life is great here in sunny South Africa, so I’m putting all of that jazz off for a while.

What’s next? Me-time! Designing, coding, learning, guitaring, drawing… all of which you will be able to follow on my blog! So check back soon! Over and out.

Full page Sesalos advert for a local alternative music publication called GRRiT Magazine. Pretty stoked with the way it turned out.

Stereogum presents… Enjoyed: A Tribute to Bjork’s Post

http://stereogum.com/bjork

Stereogum have put together a compilation of tracks to honor Bjork’s album “Post”. And of course to satisfy their indie listening readers’ hunger for music! Great tribute and great selection of bands to do the songs!

Also, my favorite designer, Scott Hansen of ISO 50, did the album cover! Wow!

5 Amazing Mac Apps for Getting Things Done

GTD (Getting Things Done) isn’t new and neither is Leo’s conclusion, but it is a conclusion I, in part, agree with. GTD is a powerful process and task management framework but I find most applications that are based on that framework too time and energy consuming. Granted, their purpose is to manage tasks and processes, but my job is to actually complete the tasks.

But then again, I am the kind of person who when having to use butter instead of margarine I feel the need to shout, “Why are you resisting me!!?! Why don’t you want to spread?”. Read the rest of this entry »

Colophon, part one

March 12th, 2008

With the recent updates I’ve done to the site’s design and content, I’ve decided to write a few posts on design progressions, plugins used and that sort of thing.

This site is powered by WordPress. I’ve tried Textpattern and MovableType, but not well enough to say which is better. I’ve just always enjoyed the way WordPress works and looks, and it’s pretty easy to customize.

At the moment I’m only using two plugins

I have yet to browse through all the available and recommended plugins. These two are just ones I managed to find when piecing together this site’s initial structure and functionality.

The colour scheme will probably change before I’ve declared the site ‘complete’, but I’d like to add that a brilliant website for getting colour palettes (and colours, and pattens) is www.colourlovers.com. I could spend hours changing all the swatches in a design I’ve done!

Okay. Done! Hopefully I’ll get some time this weekend to tinker around and do more work on the site.

How inevitable…

Okay, okay… the site isn’t quite complete yet, but putting it live in the state that it’s in pushes it up a few notches in my todo list. Hopefully I won’t find more important things to do. Like, you know, growing a mustache, or making a killer compilation CD, or playing old 8-bit games, or making long lists of things I could be doing…

…I make no promises.
